I have noticed recently when I or my mates have posted something as an offer
the replies we have both recieved are somewhat unpleasant and ungreatful.
When things are offered on Freecycle these are items being given away would
it be too much to ask for a nice email when asking to be considered for
something, Also would it be too much to be patient with the person offering
the item as they could be busy and not able to check thier emails every
minute of the day. If you dont get a reply within an hour dont panic and
send it again as this comes accross as pushy.

I have recently offered something and the emails I have recieved regarding
these items are not what Id call pleasant. I could easily sell these items
and get something for them due to my recent financial circumstances but
instead I offered them on here to give them to people who would appreciate
them but Im not sure now.
I thought freecycle was supposed to be a friendly place where people gave
things to other people who could use them rather than just chucked on the
skip.

Remember manners dont cost anything.

Sorry rant over

Finally found my way here, thanks SarahJane  biggrin Pity it hadnt been in better circumstances.
It seems there are a fair few of us out there that have issues with manners, unfortunately after reading this previous post I also received an 'impolite' response-normally I just shrug them off but must PMT or something cause this one really got on my wick!
I posted my reply to the person on the site..oops,sorry again! but the reply he gave me was worse than the original,I politely asked him not to reply again  Angry

perhaps we should create templates for offers and responses? seems to be no one can do right for doing wrong these days. too pushy, not polite enough, don't grovel enough, grovel too much.at the end of the day the board is what it is, to expect everyone to conform to one individuals standards is in itself downright rude. if we dont like responses just delete. yahoo can be a pain the bum too so that could explain repeat responses.none of us are martyrs, the aim of freecycle is to save as much as possible from landfill. i myself am grateful to anyone who collects items as it saves me time and space. i do not expect to have my arse kissed too.theres allways gumtree or scotads............
my thoughts for today devil2

Having recently come back to recycle after an illness i wasnt really surprised at the way some folk have replyed to the posts ive made and i wil even go as far as saying i get a good laugh out of the less politer ones. Youve got to take them with a pinch of salt and remember we are all different and the general idea is to re-cycle the things we no longer want or use. And there is allways the "Delete button!!"

If I only get one response, I'm not too bothered. If I'm wanting rid of something and someone else wants it, they're doing me a favour!

If several people reply, though, I'll choose from the ones who ask nicely - so the rude ones lose out. Not my problem.

If we had templates, now: that would be telling people to conform. And I bet someone would object to the wording.   biggrin

No templates PLEASEEE. ok so when you get a few replies its hard to choose who gets it .but at least we think we know what type of person is calling to collect our belovid items. and if they are less than polite.well it only makes it easier choosing from the rest. Let people learn from there mistakes baby.gif
